TCNewTech Pitch Competition

The TCNewTech Pitch Competition is a free, public celebration of Michigan’s startup scene. Watch founders take the stage, make their case in five minutes, and compete for real cash awards — then join before and after to connect with the people building the region’s future.

Each founder gets 5 minutes to pitch, followed by 5 minutes of Q&A with a panel of expert judges. The judges will crown the top ideas — and the audience picks their own favorite. First Place, Second Place, and Audience Choice Awards are all up for grabs.

Beyond the stage, you’ll find an expo in the lobby featuring local and regional organizations, a cash bar, and plenty of room to build relationships with entrepreneurs, innovators, students, and startup supporters who are shaping Northern Michigan’s growing ecosystem.

Collect stars by completing activities throughout our upcoming TCNewTech programming — the more stars you rack up, the more chances you have to win. One lucky winner will be drawn at the end of the night.

Event Schedule

4:30–5:30 pm — Doors open | Expo + cash bar in the lobby

5:30–6:45 pm — Pitch competition

6:45–7:30 pm — Networking

7:30 pm onward — Afterparty! Mingle with founders and the broader entrepreneurial community

Parking Several surface lots and street parking are available around the City Opera House. The Larry C. Hardy Parking Deck is two blocks east on Front Street.

Applications are open through June 9th for the July event and will remain open for the September 2026 event.

Entrepreneurs who are women, BIPOC, Native American, 2SLGBTQIA+, veterans, or individuals with disabilities are strongly encouraged to apply.

Finalists receive personalized coaching, coworking passes, and hands-on support to help them take the stage with confidence — and reach their next business milestone.
