Home Education families with children aged 7+ are invited to this hands-on crafting workshop! We will explore the importance of sewing through the ages, as both a practical skill and as an art form.
Attendees will handle museum objects from the past, including a Stone Age sewing tool and a Victorian sampler. They will discover what sewing can reveal about the people of the past, from the Bayeux Tapestry to Tudor black-work. Finally, they will have a go at doing some creative stitchery to take home.
No previous sewing experience or skills are required.
This session is delivered in partnership with the Community & Family Learning Team at Wakefield Council’s Adult Education Service.
