About this Event

Thursday 27 August
10:30am – 11:45am
Optional coffee and cake: 11:45am – 12:15pm

This taster offers an introduction to a holistic approach to yoga, bringing together breath, movement and mindful awareness in a calm and supportive practice.

Drawing on the traditional teachings of viniyoga, the class uses simple, adaptable movements that are carefully linked with the breath. Rather than striving to achieve particular postures, we'll explore how moving with awareness can help us feel more connected to ourselves, creating greater steadiness, ease and balance in everyday life. Leading the session will be our yoga teacher and therapist in training Fran, whose teachers include Lucy Maresh, Judith Hanson Lasater, Ranju Roy, and over the past two years, A.G Mohan and son Ganesh Mohan.

No previous yoga experience is needed, and the session is suitable for complete beginners. All equipment will be provided, although we recommend wearing comfortable clothing which allows you to move freely. You may also wish to bring socks for the relaxation practice at the end of class.

Afterwards, you're warmly invited to stay for coffee and cake, meet others and find out more about our new yoga community.

This free taster session is an opportunity to experience our new weekly Holistic Yoga classes before they begin on Thursday 17th of September 2026. Ongoing classes can be booked through a range of flexible, sliding scale pricing options. For more information, please email [email protected].

Please kindly read this before booking:

Classes may include guided relaxation, visualisation and periods of quiet inward attention. While many people find these practices deeply restorative, they are not suitable for everyone. It is important to us that everyone who comes to our studio feels safe, supported and able to engage with the practice in a way that is right for them.

If you are currently experiencing severe anxiety or panic, frequent distressing flashbacks, or have a current or previous history of psychosis or experiences such as hearing voices or unusual beliefs, please get in touch before booking. For some people with these experiences, visualisation and inwardly focused practices can be unhelpful or increase distress. This does not necessarily mean these practices are unsuitable for you, but it does mean it is important to consider your individual circumstances. If you're unsure, our Yoga Therapy Manager would be very happy to discuss things further and can be contacted by email at [email protected]. In some cases, we may recommend beginning with one-to-one sessions, where practices can be individually adapted and introduced at a pace that feels safe and supportive.

It is the responsibility of each participant to inform the teacher of any health conditions, recent surgery, injuries or other circumstances that may affect their ability to take part safely in the practice of yoga. By taking part, you acknowledge that you are participating voluntarily and are responsible for working within your own limits. Please listen to your body throughout and stop or modify any practice that does not feel appropriate for you.
