About this Event

This Hit Me Up event is open to the public, 21+.

About the Class

Want to learn to defend yourself, but don’t want to take months of classes to feel safe?
This self defense class focuses on simple, easy-to-apply conflict de-escalation tools for escaping an attacker and restoring safety. You will walk away from this training with real techniques that you can incorporate immediately and use easily if you ever find yourself in a situation of defense.
This class covers:
• The Do's and Don'ts in a Self Defense Situation
• How to Mitigate Risk in a Conflict
• Body Mechanics & Structures of Self Safety
• Techniques to Diffuse a Situation if Attacked or Grabbed
This beginner-friendly class will include partner practice and hands-on instruction to help you solidify techniques.
This class will NOT focus on strikes, throwing, or complicated techniques that require years of experience.

About Your Instructor

About the Instructor: Gustav has been actively practicing, competing, and internationally training in martial arts for the past 10 years, with experience in Muay Thai, Jujitsu, Judo, Boxing, and Wrestling. He first began training in martial arts when he was working in Emergency Medicine, to better keep himself and his colleagues safe during unpredictable situations. Gustav is incredibly passionate about working to keep his community safe. His approach to martial arts and self defense emphasizes risk awareness, safety, and practical technique.

FAQs

FAQ: what should I bring?

Bring a way to take notes, water, preferably a sweatshirt that you wouldn’t mind getting grabbed (this is optional) and if possible bring a friend!

FAQ: any skill pre-requisites? (i.e., is this for beginners, advanced, everyone?)

This class is for all levels.

FAQ: what should I wear?

Comfortable clothes and shoes. Avoid any dangling jewelry. Optional sweatshirt that you wouldn’t mind if it was grabbed/stretched.

FAQ: can I attend solo, or do I need to come with a partner?

This class can be attended either solo or with a partner. There is a physical component to this class. I will also allow a handful of tickets for people who would feel more comfortable just coming to watch.
