About this Event
HERO Nature Healing Walk
HERO - Healing Empathy Redemption Oasis - is a small but powerful organization with two legs: The Nature Healing Walks and our political legislative work to make Nature prescriptive.
The Nature Healing Walks is not a sporty hike. It’s a two hour mindfulness experience to heal, restore, sooth and connect. During the walk we remind participants and ourselves of the powerful metaphors that nature gives us: Trees connected by their roots, the beauty of diversity, the individual needs and qualities of different plants. H.E.R.O. founder and president Judith Foster has created a curriculum for the Nature Healing Walks covering different themes crucial to address healing in a holistic way: for the body, mind and spirit. Examples of these themes are nutrition, forgiveness and the power of sound.
In case we need to cancel because of rain or sickness this will be announced on our facebook page: Healing, Empathy, Redemption, Oasis so please check this in the morning of the walk. Or contact Judith Foster on 754-422-3672.
The Walks typically takes place in the Blue Hills reservation. For easier access and an easier walk during the colder season the Boston Nature Center in Mattapan is used (this is where we will be on March 15). Sometimes other forests or parks are used, we like to find locations that are as convenient to get to as possible.
Nature Healing Walks teach and support participants to reconnect with nature and develop tools to live healthier lifestyles, in tune with their bodies and environment. With access to the right resources, people can become empowered by their own abilities and gain the confidence to fulfill their potential. Pain must be acknowledged just like the fact that working through traumas is a lifelong process. But as we walk the first steps onto the path we think of them as steps into healing, one at a time, remembering that One size does not fits all all Judith often says. Deeply breathing fresh air, whispering gratitude to Mother Nature who provided it for us, is just as simple as it is profound and restful for our souls.
I am a veteran of OEF and OIF that has learned to live with chronic pain and post-traumatic stress. H.E.R.O Nurturing Center, and the Nature Healing Walks, allowed me to be more healthy, mindful, and at peace. Judith Foster has an intimate and deep understanding of healing from life's traumas and stress. I learned a lot from the Nature Healing Walks, and will now be able to have a more rewarding and caring relationship with nature, myself, and others. Veterans and many of us that experience physical or mental pain, can learn more about themselves, nature and others from H.E.R.O Nurturing Center's Nature Healing Walks, and gain assistance in reintegrating them into a more healthy lifestyle mental routines. I am very fortunate to have been a part of the H.E.R.O Nurturing Center's Nature Healing Walks with Judith Foster. I gained extremely valuable peace and an appreciation for nature that is just beyond our doorstep. Thank you, Sieh Samura OEF, OIF Veteran - Boston, MA
