Herbal Syrup Workshop & Tea Party with Fatima Chavez & Katie Goldberg

Join us to make some delicious herbal syrup! Then together we will enjoy a matcha latte or mocktail to test it out.
About this Event

Join us for a whimsical little tea party where we’ll create a delicious herbal syrup, whisk up some matcha, add your milk of choice, and enjoy a hand-crafted latte together! (We will also have lemonade to make a delicious mocktail if you prefer). In this class, we’ll walk through the simple steps of making an herbal syrup and explore the fun and creative possibilities of combining herbs, fruits, and more! We will also touch on the benefits of including herbs in a syrup. Everyone will take home a small jar of the syrup we create together and we hope that participants will leave feeling inspired to experiment at home and create their own delicious syrups for lattes, sparkling water, cocktails, mocktails, ice cream, and anything else you can dream up! We’ll share a few of our favorite recipes to get you started. Come sip, create, and play with flavor!

Fatima Chavez Lopez (she/her) is a first-generation Chicana from Oxnard — a mother, birthworker (doula), traditional bodyworker, reiki practitioner, traditional herbalist, lactation educator and counselor, and cofounder of the Oxnard Birthworkers Collective. Raised with the traditional bodywork and herbal medicine practices common in her home, Fatima’s formal journey began in 2014 and is deeply rooted in Traditional Mexican Medicine. In 2019, she became a full-spectrum doula through Birthworkers of Color in Long Beach and received her Lactation Educator and Counselor certification from UC San Diego. She continues to learn with educators, mentors, and elders, deepening her practice in traditional healing. Fatima offers trauma-informed, intuitive care that is centered on the individual. She believes the power of body wisdom will guide each person’s unique path to wellness.

Creativity is Katie's biggest source of inspiration. Whether she is making jewelry, carving stamps for block printing, arranging flowers, singing, putting together fun outfits, decorating space, or making a tasty & beautiful matcha latte, these things always bring her so much joy. She is so excited to gather & create delicious herbal syrup with you!
