Herbal Magic Through The Wisdom of the Moon and Seasons (Yearlong Journey)
About this Event
There is an ancient wisdom, and magic in connecting with the seasons, the phases of the moon and our herbal allies (plants, flowers, trees and beyond).
These remembrances are awakening more in our modern day as we search for more depth, meaning and connection to the wisdom of what has been forgotten for so many of us in our modern world. Our ancestors lived by these sacred rhythms (our original calendar) as a means of not just connection to ourselves, each other and the greater web of life - but also for survival.
We are all impacted by the phases of the moon and the seasons including the plants, trees, flowers and everything that grows on earth. There are different seasons, times of day and phases of the moon where the medicinal properties of herbs, flowers and plants are at their peak.
This is a yearlong course that will help open up your ability to perceive the magic of the herbs and plant allies in a way that is both practical and mystical.
Together we will learn the seasons and lunar phases when the potency of the herbs are at their peak, as well as the wisdom and ritual of planting and harvesting. You will connect more deeply into the cycles, and the wisdom that lives within each turning and phase of life. We’ll also tune into the planetary and astrological associations for the herbs, and how to incorporate this wisdom into your rituals and your life.
NOTE : You do not have to have a garden or space outdoors to receive the gifts of this course, but for those who do specific suggestions will be offered during the course. Our gatherings will take place in a community garden, or an herbal apothecary.
Our ancestors at some point had knowledge of this wisdom, and it is time to reclaim and remember this magic today.
You will learn how to listen to, make magic with, and be in connection with our herbal allies in a deeper way attuned to the wisdom of the seasonal and lunar tides.
And as we journey together your relationship with the seasons, moon and our mother earth will deepen too.
- Every six weeks we will gather, and you will receive tips and invitations to connect to the wisdom of the seasons and cycles with plant invitations. You will learn herbal preparations, and exercises to open up your gateways of perception to communicate with and commune directly with our herbal allies.
- Together we will make an herbal remedy at each gathering that honors the season and moon phase(s) we will be covering, and you will learn or deepen your understanding of the art of herbalism as well.
- We will make herbal teas, infused body oils and salves, sachets and dream pillows, facial and pelvic steams, bath blends and more!
- All supplies will be included for the herbal preparation we will make together in-person.
- After each gathering you will be invited to continue to connect with a herbal ally (or two) to deepen in the magic, and communion with the plants and wisdom of the cycles.
NOTE : This will be a very hands-on and experiential offering with classes also offered online for those who are not located in the San Francisco Bay Area. If you miss a session you will receive an audio recording of the corresponding course that is offered online.
This is slow herbalism, and it is not a course about memorization of herbal actions. This is a place to remember a deeper connection to the seasons and moon, and how these great cycles impact our green allies - and all of life on earth including ourselves.
Understanding the space and time when a specific herbal ally is at its peak offers many clues about its magic, gifts and power. When we connect with this story it opens another pathway to awakening long forgotten knowledge for so many of us.
This offering is open to anyone - including those who have walked with the plants before in any way, and for those who are new to it all. This is a deepening of a journey for those who’ve participated in the previous Journey with 13 Herbal Allies courses. And remember if you are new to herbalism or to these offerings, you are also welcome to join us!
May we all awaken to the power of plants and the green realm, and our connection as stewards and kin on this earth.

About the Teachers : Crystal Marie Higgins is a lineaged Initiated High Priestess in Celtic traditions, an Initiated Witch, as well as a Yoga Teacher, a Folk Herbalist and an Ethical Marketer. She has been in devotion to earth wisdom, the cycles of the moon and the seasons since 2012. She loves to create, to cook and share that magic with others!
