Herbal Explorers: From Harvest to Mug 🍎🌿
As the growing season winds down, what happens to all the plants we've spent the warmer months growing and gathering? 🍂
In this hands-on Herbal Explorers workshop, kids will follow plants from harvest to mug, discovering how fruits, roots, berries, flowers, bark, and spices can be dried, preserved, roasted, and transformed into something we can enjoy long after the garden has gone quiet.
We’ll begin by sharing a warm cup of fall-inspired herbal tea before exploring ingredients like fresh and dried apple, ginger, cinnamon bark, orange peel, berries, roots, flowers, and warming spices through touch, smell, taste, and observation.
Kids will compare plants in different forms, investigate which parts of the plant we use, and discover how drying, roasting, and preserving can change a plant’s texture, scent, flavor, and character.
Then they’ll use everything they discovered to create their own Fall Harvest Tea, choosing the fruits, warming spices, and nourishing herbs that feel right for their blend. Each child will name their creation, design a personalized label, and take their tea home to enjoy.
🌿 Kids will:
• Begin with a warm cup of fall-inspired herbal tea
• Explore fruits, roots, berries, flowers, bark, and spices
• Compare plants fresh, dried, and roasted
• Discover how we preserve plants after harvest
• Use their senses to make their own ingredient choices
• Create, name, and label a custom Fall Harvest Tea to take home
Parents who would like to create their own tea blend can register as an additional participant.
This workshop is designed primarily for children ages 5–12, though younger children are welcome at their parent's discretion with additional hands-on support.
$18 first participant | $15 each additional child or parent participant
Optional reusable tea strainer add-on: $6
Space is limited. Register in advance to save your spot.
