About this Event
Does Personalised Care matter to you?
Are you wanting to enable your patients to feel empowered to better manage their own health, feel equipped to ask the questions that are important to them and participate equally in decisions about their healthcare?
Would you like to have conversations with patients where you don't feel obliged to 'fix'?
Health coaching can:
- unlock a person's potential to enhance their own wellbeing
- help people take ownership of their health
- help a person to learn rather than teaching them
- develop skills and build conference
Health coaching is grounded in established adult learning, motivational and psychological approaches. It helps a person access the information and resources they need, when they need them.
It involves supporting people to plan and reach their own goals rather than what professionals want them to achieve. It is holistic and focuses on what matters most to the individual.
Outcomes of Health Coaching:
- Improved adherence to treatment regimens
- Patients more likely to monitor their own condition and obtain recommended care when needed
- Better clinical outcomes and improved experience for the patient
- Reduce number of emergency department visits
- Reduce number of visits to GP and secondary care
- Reduction in staff burnout
Training
A fantastic opportunity has arisen for any staff working within secondary cancer care within Wessex who have regular contact with patients, to access accredited* Health Coaching Skills training which will equip you with the conversational skills in your daily practice to support person-centred care and self-management for patients. The training will give you the opportunity to develop a broad understanding of the principles of health coaching and behaviour change, while providing a practical set of tools that you can apply immediately within your work.
The programme is developed as two separate day-long workshops, spaced one to two weeks apart to allow for practicing newly acquired skills. It is highly interactive with an emphasis on skill practice and development. It will also offer opportunity for participants to discuss applications of health coaching within their everyday work.
This training is supported by a grant from Hampshire & IOW Integrated Care Board and delivered by Wessex Cancer Alliance.
