Mount Horeb’s downtown Driftless Historium (100 S 2nd St) invites students in grades K to 4 to their new “Hands-on History” afterschool workshops. Each session will be held on the second Tuesday of each month through May and feature season-themed crafts with a historical twist! Registration is now open for Session #3, “My Family Tree,” to be held Tuesday, April 14 from 4:00 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. Students will craft a literal family tree, and explore how different cultures make sure these names will be remembered and celebrated —from the family crests of Europe, to the unique patterns of Scottish tartans, to fancy monograms!
The workshops are planned and led by museum staff and experienced educators. Participation is absolutely free, due to a generous grant from the Mount Horeb Community Foundation—but capacity is limited to just twenty students per month and registration is required.

NOTE: Kids who attend two or more Hands-on History sessions and complete all activities will earn an official “Junior Tour Guide” card that grants access to the Driftless Historium for them and their family for all of 2026.
