Hair Loss and Cancer Treatment

C & Hair are hosting a joint event with Lewisham and Greenwich NHS Trust in Lewisham Community Space in Lewisham shopping centre and will be uncovering the following:

“Are you concerned about the rising incidence of cancer and its impact on the community?”

“Do you believe everything that you hear about cancer?”

“Is there an increased risk of cancer with the use of hair dyes and relaxers?”

We will unpack this and more at this event where we will:

• Demystify Myths about cancer
• Hear about cancer prevention, early detection, and treatment options.
• Discuss cancer-related hair loss, with a focus on afro-textured hair
• Look at recent studies linking the use of hair products to cancer

At this event, you will also be able to:

• Find out some information about cancer and the support offered by Lewisham and Greenwich NHS Trust
• Explore information on cancer, including support, consultations on hair, learn about methods to reduce hair loss through chemotherapy by scalp cooling

About C & Hair: Managing Cancer-related Afro Hair Loss

This service is dedicated to providing support and guidance for individuals with Afro-textured hair faced with hair loss due to cancer treatment. We run Support Groups, hold individual hair clinics, provide interactive workshops, provide educational content and train hairdressers.

At C & Hair, we recognise not only the medical implications of treating cancer, but also the social and psychological impact of cancer-related hair loss. It is a support network to assist people going through what may be one of the most challenging periods of their life.
