Á bak við tjöldin! Varðveislurými Listasafns Íslands
Heimsókn með sérfræðingi í varðveislurými safnsins. Starfsemi Listasafns Íslands byggir á umfangsmiklu safni listaverka sem er í stöðugum vexti, bæði vegna lögboðinna kaupa og rausnarlegra gjafa. Listasafn Íslands gegnir hlutverki þjóðlistasafns og því er eitt mikilvægasta verkefni þess að koma upp metnaðarfullu safni íslenskrar myndlistar. Í safneigninni eru listaverkin fjölbreytt að viðfangsefni og stærð og spanna alla 20. öldina og fyrstu áratugi þessarar aldar. Aðeins lítill hluti þeirra er aðgengilegur í sýningarsölum safnsins eða í öðrum söfnum. Langflest verkanna í safnaeigninni koma aldrei fyrir sjónir almennings.
Gæðastundir eru viðburðir sem ætlaðir eru eldri borgurum. Viðburðirnir eru samsettir úr sérsniðnum leiðsögnum og spjalli við sérfræðinga safnsins um myndlist, yfirstandandi sýningar og starfsemi.
Viðburðirnir skapa tækifæri fyrir gesti til að nálgast myndlistina og menningararf þjóðarinnar á margvíslegan hátt. Ávallt er boðið upp á kaffi á gæðastundum í Listasafni Íslands.

The Storage Facilities of the National Gallery of Iceland
A guided visit with a specialist to explore the museum's storage facilities.
The National Gallery of Iceland is home to an extensive art collection, which continues to grow through legally mandated acquisitions and generous donations. One of the museum’s key roles as the national art institution is to build and maintain an ambitious collection of Icelandic visual art. The artworks in the collection vary widely in subject and size, spanning the entire 20th century and the early decades of the 21st century. Only a small portion of the collection is accessible to the public in the museum’s exhibition halls or displayed at other institutions, most of the works are kept in storage, out of sight.
The events calendar is aimed at senior citizens and is composed of specially designed tours as well as discussions with the museum´s experts on fine art, ongoing exhibitions and the work of the National Gallery of Iceland. The events create opportunities for guests to approach art and our national heritage from different perspectives.
