York Cemetery is home to a wide range of native flowers as well an array of exotic species.
This walk will look at some of the many plants to be found in the cemetery, help people to identify some of the common species and learn some interesting facts about the life of plants.
In addition, we will look out for some of the creatures that visit flowers, feed on plants, disperse their seeds or cause illness.
Guy is a wildlife campaigner for York and Ryedale Friends of the Earth. He's also very much involved with the City Nature Challenge, and the top contributor and verifier on iNaturalist in York.
Meet at the Harriet Centre at 2pm, the guided walk will be approximately 1 hr and 30 mins, and is followed by tea and biscuits in the Harriet Centre: This is mainly an outside event so please dress accordingly.
Just come along, no need for a ticket!
We suggest a donation of £5, or £2 for Friends and children. Includes a drink and biscuits.
-----
As with all events, please be aware that no pets (except assistance dogs) are allowed in the cemetery grounds. This is for the comfort and welfare of all our users.
