Graduate School of Architecture Summer Show (2025) - Transcend
“Transcend” speaks to a movement beyond limits, an aspiration to rise above what is known and imagine what lies ahead. It is not an escape but a conscious act of expanding our capacity to think and make differently within the complex realities of our time. At the Graduate School of Architecture, to transcend is to engage the world through imagination and critique, turning boundaries into thresholds for discovery.
To transcend is also to question what is accepted and to challenge the conventions that shape architectural practice and pedagogy. It embodies the courage to reimagine and to create new architectures of possibility. Our students and staff work across diverse contexts to advance knowledge that moves beyond established norms toward more inclusive and inventive African futures.
As we celebrate the culmination of this year’s work, “Transcend” represents the evolution of learning into wisdom and inquiry into invention. Each project reflects a journey beyond comfort and certainty, toward spaces that are bold, humane, and visionary.
This year we reaffirm our commitment to architectural experimentation and critical thought, to transcending not only disciplinary boundaries but the limits of imagination itself. #happeningatthegsa
