About this Event

Group Walk: More Stories from the Walls
Monday 9 February at 2pm
Starting from the High Cross monument on Jubilee Square
Around 80 minutes. Steady pace. 1.1 miles.

Information about the pace of our walks (and much more) can be found on our Leicester City Council Group Walks page.

A repeat of the walk first offered in January 2026. We bring you More Stories from the Walls - a short heritage a walk through the city centre discovering more of Leicester's buildings, people and their stories. We include the old Leicester Gaol with a story of one infamous 17th century prisoner, the creation and demise of the Old Free Grammar School and St Peter's church, blue plaques to noteworthy individuals, the Trinity Hospital mosaic and also some familiar buildings in The Newarke area. This presentation is new for 2026 and includes some locations which have featured on other walks, but with some fresh information. This walk is presented by one of our Walk Volunteers. At just over 1 mile, this short walk is ideal for new walkers.
