Group walk - Explore urban Aylestone & St Mary's Open Space
Saturday 14 February at 2pm
From Aylestone Leisure Centre, 2 Knighton Lane East.
Around 75 minutes, steady pace. 1.5 miles.

A short walk from Aylestone Leisure Centre pausing at places of interest on Aylestone's urban streets. We include a former Police station, library and the National Gas Museum. We return through St Mary's Open Space, a relatively new green space in the city. At just under 1.5 miles, this is one of our short walks led at a steady pace - ideal for new walkers.

Public toilets are available in Aylestone Leisure Centre.

This short walk is free to attend, but numbers are limited so please book via Eventbrite to secure your place or phone 0116 373 7589 when booking has opened. Please note our phone line is answered during office hours only (Monday to Friday, 9am-5.30pm), not at weekends or bank holidays.

If you are no longer able to attend, please cancel via Eventbrite or contact us by phone (during office hours)so we can allow others the opportunity to attend.

Travel
Please consider making your journey sustainably - by public tranpsport, cycle or on foot. The roads near Aylestone Leisure Centre are served by buses. New Walkers

If you have not walked with Leicester City Council before we will ask you to complete our Walker Registration form. You will receive an email in the days leading up to the event, you will receive an email explaining more about completing the New Walker Registration form. You only need to do this once and can attend any of our walks thereafter (subject to booking a place on Eventbrite).

Dress for the weather

Remember to dress appropriately for the weather. Our group walks will go ahead in most weather. We recommend the following:

Comfortable sturdy footwear
Bring a raincoat or umbrella in case of rain
On cooler days wear appropriate warm layers (hat, scarf, gloves) and a coat/jacket
It's advisable to bring a bottle of water with you.

Group size

We kindly ask walkers to book places, to keep the group size manageable.
