Gratitude Water Painting & Artist Demo

Join us for a relaxing, family-friendly gathering designed to nourish your mind and spark your creativity before the busy holiday season.
About this Event

An in-person art experience for all ages and skill levels | Art, Culture & Mindfulness

About the Experience

Start with a calming gratefulness meditation to center your focus and set a positive mindset. Following the meditation, you will discover the mesmerizing practice of Chinese water painting (水墨 / Shuǐmò) on a special reusable "magic cloth."

Traditionally rooted in mindful expression and calligraphic brushwork, water painting uses pure water on specialized fabric to create deep black strokes that gradually evaporate and fade away within minutes. This unique practice encourages presence, imperfection, and non-attachment—offering a meditative, stress-relieving outlet that relaxes the mind and fosters deep focus without the pressure of a permanent outcome.

What to Expect

• Live Demo: Beijing-born artist Jing Herman will demonstrate essential Chinese brushwork and water painting techniques.
• Hands-On Practice: Practice your own brushwork and explore peaceful, temporary mark-making on water cloths.
• Gallery Viewing: View Jing’s original textured flag artworks and fine art pieces on display at ARCOS Gallery.
