Discovery Day - Echoes of the Everglades
About this Event
Join us for another Discovery Day adventure where we will journey into the heart of Florida’s history to honor the resilient spirits who first shaped this land we call home.
This month, we are diving deep into the wetlands deep within our state's history to uncover the Echoes of the Everglades.
Join us as we step back in time to meet Florida’s original guardians. Together, we will trace the footsteps of the indigenous tribes who migrated to these lands, built thriving communities, and bravely used the wild, swampy landscape to defend their freedom from those who sought to take it.
Discover the first tribes to ever migrate to Florida over 10,000 years ago and how they built thriving civilizations, with reminders of their influence in present day Florida.
Trace how different tribes moved south and became the Seminole and Miccosukee nations that still reside here today.
Learn how these brave protectors used the swampy landscape to defend their freedom and continue to defend the glades ecosystem today.
Through immersive learning, storytelling, and hands-on activities, we will uncover the rich legacy of Florida’s First People. Discover the history of the indigenous tribes who migrated, settled, and fiercely fought to protect the Everglades from colonization.
Each month we host a community day where we invite families to join us and unleash your curiosity and creativity through engaging learning!
Spaces are limited, so make sure to reserve your free family tickets!
