Graceland Cemetery Art and Architecture Walking Tour

Graceland Cemetery is one of Chicago’s most intriguing tourist spots. A true arboretum, a sculpture garden, a wildlife sanctuary, and a home for Chicago’s departed residents - there is much to be said about this stunning place. Let Mandy Crypt lead you through the headstones and mausoleums for some Chicago's famous and infamous folks, buried under the majestic trees and haunting sculptures of Graceland Cemetery. While learning the stories of the eternal residents, you'll also learn the origins of some of the cemetery's beautiful sculptures, the artists and patrons behind them, and a little about the architecture of the many mausoleums on the ground!

Highlights include: Eternal Silence by Loredo Taft, the Pinkerton Family and Employee plot, Egyptomania-style mausoleums, and the infamous Inez Clarke sculpture!

Please dress appropriately for the weather, remember to hydrate and wear your walking shoes, and hit the bathrooms before you come! Lastly, please be prompt as we will only wait a few minutes after start time to begin out tour.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION!!!: The tour will meet and begin outside the visitor center at the main gate located at 4001 N. Clark St. Bathroom facilities and water fountains are available at the visitor center and it is advised that they be used before the tour as there are no bathroom opportunities once inside the cemetery.

Parking spaces are limited and should be reserved for those with mobility needs. Some street parking is available, however on days Cubs games are scheduled the streets are permit only. Public transit options are available; the #22 Clark Bus and the #80 Irving Park Bus both drop off on the corner of Irving Park and Clark St. Rideshares and taxis can also drop off at this location and are easily called for at the end of the tour.

Tours will run, rain or shine, unless it is unsafe to be outside (such as severe lightning storms). In the event of a cancellation, refunds will be issued and the tour rescheduled.
