Join Gecko Theatre, the award-winning and internationally acclaimed theatre company, for a physical, playful and inspiring two-part workshop providing an insight into their creative process and style.
Gecko are proud to be a recommended practitioner on various GCSE, A/AS Level and IB syllabuses and this workshop is the perfect opportunity to experience first-hand the tools used by the company to devise and create their visceral, poetic and provocative productions.
Learning directly from Gecko’s Associate Director, Helen Baggett, these 2 sessions will welcome you into a safe space to physically embody Gecko’s methodology, experience Gecko’s unique style of movement and physical theatre and deepen your understanding of their devising and creative process. The workshops will include preparatory exercises, group discussions and techniques that teachers can use in their own classrooms. We will explore how to devise from a stimulus and how to layer and develop movement and ideas. You will delve into the use of breath and language and explore emotional physicality.
You will move, have fun, express, feed your practice and connect with yourself and others through creative discovery.
Please note both sessions will be physical! Please come in soft, comfortable clothing that allows for ease of movement and bring a bottle of water and a notepad.
Any questions? Please contact Niamh Milligan (Gecko's Creative Engagement Coordinator) on [email protected].
