About this Event
What did it feel like to be there when history changed?
Join us for a rare opportunity to hear directly from Martin Boyce, who stood at the Stonewall Inn in 1969 during the uprising that transformed the fight for LGBTQ+ rights.
Growing up in New York City, Martin came out as a teenager and found his way to Greenwich Village, where he became involved in early activism that pushed for a more inclusive and intersectional movement. From his experiences with the Mattachine Society era to the nights that sparked a global movement, Martin brings history to life through personal storytelling.
His talk will weave together memory, activism, and reflection - offering insight into both the origins of Pride and the ongoing work of building inclusive communities today.
This event is proudly supported by the International Day of Pink, Diversity Thunder Bay, Thunder Bay Public Library, Lakehead District School Board, and Superior-Greenstone District School Board.
