Friends of Taihinui Historical Reserve
🌿Friends of Taihinui Historical Reserve, work in a beautiful mature bush area of Greenhithe, along the Hellyers/ Oruamo Escarpment. There are mature pōhutukawa, a nikau grove, mature pūriri, giant tanekaha, coastal kōwhai and more. The trail into the reserve is informal & rough in places. A good level of fitness is required for this group. 🥾
Come and help the group free the native trees by removing elaeagnus, woolly nightshade, moth plant and wild ginger. We've been removing these pest plants from the reserve for a couple of years & there is still a bit more to go!
Your efforts are rewarded with stunning views of the inner Waitemata Harbour and being away from the sounds of the city, whilst basking under beautiful mature native bush - all in our backyard. Create new friendships and help nature thrive by Caring for Greenhithe's environment.
