Free Motion Quilting techniques & Spiral designs.Price: £140
6 sessions, a fortnightly Class.
Starting on Tuesday 3rd February 9.30am - 1pm
Week 1 (3rd)
Understanding Needles, Thread, Wadding, Fabrics & the effects these all have working together for the results you need.
Creating Samples using our walking foot & 'Other feet'!
I will cover how stitch length and decorative stitches can have an effect on your patchwork & overall design.
Week 2 (17th)
Introduction to Free Motion Quilting.
Checking tension, and a quick reminder of maintenance. Wadding is notoriously fibrous & particles create havoc if not cleaned regularly..
We will touch on 'Quilting with colour' and quilt patterns in a sampler.
Week 3 3rd March
This week we will concentrate on Patterns & Designs by working to a grid. By marking a grid on your fabric it is easier to create symmetrical patterns. This could be anything from clamshells, flowers, leaf shapes or simple geometric designs.
Week 4 17th March
Spirals... Controlled & Freeform!
Week 5 31st March
Feather designs. Block, Boarder & Free Style
Week 6 14th April
Quilted Pictures.
This is where you could argue that it's machine embroidery!
I will give you some inspirational hand outs - Coastal, Jungle - Landscape
