About this Event

Drive up, declutter, and recycle for free.

Join Council Member Linda Lee and the Lower East Side Ecology Center for a free community drop-off event for unwanted electronics and textiles.

No registration, ticket, or payment is required. Walk-ups are welcome.
This Eventbrite page is just here to help share the details — you do not need to reserve a spot or show a ticket. The more the merrier.

Staff will be on-site to help unload accepted items from your car, making it easy to clear out old electronics, clothing, shoes, linens, and more while keeping reusable and recyclable materials out of the waste stream.

In New York State, electronics cannot be thrown in the regular trash, and improper disposal may result in a $100 fine. This event is a convenient way to recycle responsibly, protect your personal data, and make space at home.

Accepted electronics include:
Laptops, desktop computers, monitors, tablets, smartphones, printers, scanners, fax machines, TVs, DVD/Blu-ray players, VCRs, video game consoles, routers, modems, keyboards, mice, cables, chargers, hard drives, circuit boards, cameras, microphones, stereo equipment, and other audiovisual equipment.

Working and nonworking electronics are accepted. Data security is guaranteed for eligible devices.

Accepted textiles include:
Clean, dry, and odorless clothing, shoes, coats, linens, blankets, comforters, curtains, bags, belts, hats, gloves, scarves, jewelry, luggage, stuffed animals, and other textiles in any condition.

Please do not bring:
Batteries, except lead-acid batteries from UPS systems; CDs, DVDs, VHS tapes, cassette tapes, or other media; household appliances such as air conditioners and microwaves; smoke detectors; humidifiers; or dehumidifiers.
