The South Portland Police Department will be hosting a Fraud Awareness presentation to help community members learn how to recognize and avoid common scams. Fraud is becoming increasingly sophisticated, and scammers often target individuals through phone calls, emails, text messages, and online platforms.During this presentation officers will discuss common red flags to watch for, real-life scam scenarios, and current fraud trends including tax season scams, Social Security scams, Medicare fraud, and other common schemes affecting our community.
Attendees will also learn practical tips on how to protect themselves, safeguard personal information, and what to do if they suspect they have been a targeted by a scam.
This presentation is designed to provide helpful, real-world information and give attendees the tools they need to stay safe and informed.
