Devastating floods have been occurring with more frequency right here in Maine, across the country, and around the globe. As floods have increased in severity, so have drought conditions, with one third of the planet now being arid land. Join James, Toxtli, Melloh at the Main Library on Wednesday, April 22nd at 6pm and take a look at what is causing the floods and drought, and explore solutions both broad and in your backyard and home to restore the water cycle and living soil.James, Toxtli, Melloh has practiced various forms of healing, medicine, acupuncture, energy work, and yoga. For the past two decades he has practiced permaculture in Auburn and South Portland creating living diverse landscapes where there was once bare lawn. Since 2020 he has been working with his partner to rehabilitate a neglected orchard in mid-coast Maine bringing more diversity of plants and animals to the land. During the last year, he has been working and studying with the team at Water Stories which led him to a project to restore water retention and stop erosion on a syntropic farm in Portugal. Dr. Melloh graduated from Indiana State University with a BS in Life Science, received a MS in Family Medicine teaching and research from Case Western Reserve University, and his doctorate in medicine from Indiana University.
