Join Us at the FIT-HF Programme Showcase Event!
This is a free, interactive event celebrating the success and impact of the FIT-HF programme. We would like to share with you how the programme is making a real difference to people living with heart conditions. FIT-HF brings together patients, carers, healthcare professionals, service managers and researchers to co-design and implement a multidisciplinary programme to deliver holistic, patient-centred care for patients with heart conditions. Come along to meet the team, connect with others, hear about current and future research, and try our taster sessions designed to support independence and wellbeing. Whether you’re a patient, a carer, a clinician or simply interested in ways to improve healthcare, you are very welcomed. Come along, get involved, and discover new ways to improve care and support for people living with heart conditions.

What to expect?
Join us for a fun, friendly and interactive day where you can explore the different elements of the FIT-HF programme.
Taster sessions
1) Healthy eating
Pick up simple tips on how to incorporate protein to your diet and build nourishing meals.
2) Medic*tion support
Learn what common heart medications are for, how they work, and how they can support your care.
3) Exercise and dance
Try a gentle exercise session designed to build strength and help people move with more confidence.
4) Support at home and in the community
Find out about practical help you can acess to support independent living, such as home adaptations, mobility aids, care packages, community groups and social support services.
5) Living well with more than one condition
Many people with a heart condition also live with other health issues. Share your experiences and help us explore how care could be better delivered and coordinated.
6) Planning for future care
Take part in a myth-busting activity to make future care planning easier to understand and less daunting.
7) Carer support
Find out about resources that may support you in your caring role, and share your views on what carers need.
8) Free health checks
Have a body composition analysis and test your muscle strength in a supportive and friendly setting.
**Spaces are limited for taster sessions, so please choose the "general admission + taster session" ticket if you would like to attend the taster sessions. **
Health talks and research updates
Alongside the taster sessions, you can also enjoy short educational talks, visit information stalls from our partner organisations, and hear about key findings from the FIT-HF programme and other ongoing research projects. You’ll have the chance to meet the team, ask questions, share your experiences and help shape future research.
Refreshments will be provided, and there will be plenty of time to meet others in a friendly, relaxed setting.
Registration and taster session sign-up
This Eventbrite page is mainly to help us understand how many people are planning to attend.
Please register for a general admission + taster sessions ticket, if you would like to attend the taster sessions. Taster sessions are limited, please sign up in advance and choose ticket(s) of your preferred time slot, so that we can plan the day safely and efficiently.
Please register for a general admission only ticket if you do not wish to attend the taster sessions. You are welcome to access the rest of the event.
Walk-ins are possible on the day, you are very welcome to join us for educational talks, visit information stalls from our partnering teams; however, taster session places will be reserved for those who have signed up.
Getting there
By car:
Free parking is available at the venue, including 60 free spaces in front of the main building and a free overflow car park nearby.
By bus:
From Leicester city centre, you can take bus numbers 26 or 54 from Haymarket Bus Station. The nearest bus stop is by the shopping centre, around a 5-minute walk from the NSPCC National Training Centre.
By train:
The nearest mainline station is Leicester Train Station. From there, you can continue to the venue by taxi or by bus via Leicester city centre/Haymarket Bus Station.
