Pete Seeger helped introduce America to its own musical heritage, devoting his life to using the power of song as a force for social change. With his deeply-held beliefs, Seeger went from the top of the pop charts to the top of the blacklist and was banned from American commercial television for more than 17 years. The Emmy Award-winning documentary “Pete Seeger: The Power of Song” premiered in 2008 as the first and only authorized biography of Seeger, featuring inspiring musical performances and interviews with with Arlo Guthrie, Bruce Springsteen, Bob Dylan and others.
The screening is scheduled for 2 p.m. on Tuesday, May 28, in the parlor at Mohonk Mountain House. At 5 p.m., after the screening and a short break, return to the parlor to watch David Lutken and Andy Teirstein perform some of Pete Seeger’s powerful and timeless music—and be ready to sing along!
Tickets are $10 and must be purchased in advance.
