When you arrive at the March, please check-in with the volunteer team (by the middle school), or find a parking space to cluster in groups of about a dozen people.
March Route: https://bit.ly/38YeH43 Beginning in the New Paltz Middle School parking lot located at the corner of North Manheim Boulevard and Main Street, the march will go down Main Street in a (North)Western direction (towards the mountains, towards the Wallkill), then turn left onto Plattekill Avenue (across the intersection from Elting Library and P&Gās), turn right at Village Hall / Peace Park (25 Plattekill Avenue) and continue across Hasbrouck Avenue to Hasbrouck Park where the festival will be taking place.
March Kick-Off: starts at 12:00 noon from the Middle School parking lot. Volunteers will be helping groups of about a dozen to get into formation from 11:00 am onward. Be a volunteer: https://forms.gle/rshxejCB9rHYXNKR7
Spectators: anywhere along Main Street between North Manheim and Plattekill Avenue is great!
Latecomers: since New Paltz Police Department and the Department of Public Works will be blocking the roads to keep our Marchers safe, please plan your travel to the March and Festival sites accordingly.
Other details for the day:
Parking -
Please consider biking or carpooling into New Paltz, because Main Street (Route 299) becomes a parking lot on a nice weekend day without any events taking place. The Empire State Trail passes through town.
Thereās plenty of street parking all over the Village, just check the signs and what the meters say. If you donāt mind a nice saunter through Main St before the March, thereās a big free parking lot on Huguenot Street by our Wastewater Treatment Plant.
COVID protocols -
Please stay home if you are not feeling well, out of care for our community. The event is outdoors, but no other COVID precautions can be guaranteed as of this writing.
Accessibility -
This event strives to be as accessible as a grassroots-organized march and festival in a mountain village can be, but here are some notes to address potential concerns: the March route is mostly downhill along paved main roads; the Festival is in a park with short grass and packed dirt terrain. There are handicapped parking spots available by the park. Interpretation services available only at booths that prepared such services individually. Service animals are always welcome everywhere in New Paltz. There will be porta-potties on-site. While childcare is not available as of this writing, there will be childrenās activities and volunteers running those activities. There will be food vendors with vegetarian and vegan options, and the festival is only a block away from Main Street where all dietary needs can be met.
Make a plan with your group to meet-up in Hasbrouck Park, where the March ends and where the Festival is taking place, in case you lose each other in the March.
