A Different Kind of Saturday for Men
When was the last time you slowed down, cooked a meal, and had a real conversation with other men about life?
Brothers’ Kitchen is a unique gathering where men come together to cook, share a meal, and have meaningful conversations about life, relationships, and what it means to be a man today.
Hosted by Fellowship of Men Singapore, this is part of our Men’s Self-Care & Conversation Series — creating spaces where men can connect, reflect, and grow together. Just good food, good company, and honest conversations.

Conversation Theme
"Can Men Cry Openly?"
Many men grow up receiving messages about strength, toughness, and keeping emotions to themselves. While these messages may have served a purpose, they can also make it difficult to express vulnerability, seek support, or talk openly about what we're going through.
In this conversation, we'll explore questions like:
• What messages about emotions did we receive growing up?
• Why do some men find it difficult to cry or express vulnerability?
• What is the difference between emotional strength and emotional suppression?
• How can we create safer spaces for men to express themselves honestly?
• What does healthy emotional expression look like in our relationships and daily lives?
You can share as much or as little as you are comfortable with.

Why Cooking?
Cooking is one of the most practical forms of self-care and care for others.
When men cook together, something interesting happens — conversations become more natural, barriers lower, and real connections form.
It also invites us to rethink traditional stereotypes about masculinity and explore healthier, more balanced ways of living.

Theme 2: Emotional Expression & Vulnerability
Host: Brother Ben
Info: Can men cry openly?
Many men grow up receiving messages that strength means staying tough, staying in control, and keeping emotions to themselves. While resilience is important, constantly suppressing emotions can come at a cost. It can affect our mental health, strain our relationships, and make it harder to seek support when we need it most.
This session invites men to reflect on their relationship with emotions, vulnerability, and strength. Together, we will explore the messages we received about emotional expression, how those beliefs have shaped us, and whether they continue to serve us today. We will discuss the difference between emotional strength and emotional suppression, and how healthy emotional expression can help us become better partners, fathers, friends, and leaders.
Through open conversation, we aim to create a space where men can be honest without shame, support one another without judgment, and discover healthier ways to navigate life’s challenges.
