📚 Join us for an exciting and educational class Feathers & Shells: Exploring the World of Birds of Prey and Tortoises!🌿✨
This educational class is suitable for both kids and adults! In this interactive class, you'll have the unique opportunity to learn about these incredible creatures, their importance in our ecosystem, and how to coexist with them. Anna Hackney, who is the owner/operator of Sandspur Wildlife Sanctuary will be leading this class. She is USFWS Migratory Bird Rehabilitation Permitted for all species including Eagles, Florida FWC Rehab Native Wildlife permitted, a Florida FWC Gopher Tortoise Agent, Florida Master Naturalist, Land Manager of Welannee Sandhill Conservation Area (522 acres)and our organization offers environmental consulting on a limited basis. They rehab many species, but she specialize in bird of prey rehab and rehab approximately 200 a year or more. She also rehabilitates gopher tortoise’s and has a special interest in their conservation. She is currently working on her Masters degree in Wildlife Conservation Biology as well.
Anna will guide you through a captivating journey, sharing fascinating facts, dispelling myths, and providing valuable insights into birds of prey and conservation efforts. NBSTCC is proud to collaborate and partner with Sandspur Wildlife Sanctuary to offer this awesome education class.
Anna, an experienced handler, will showcase bird of prey and local tortoise diversity and highlighting their vital role in maintaining a balanced ecosystem. You will gain a deeper understanding for birds of prey and local tortoise species. From majestic eagles and hawks to fascinating tortoises, you will learn all about these incredible creatures and their natural habitats. NBSTCC opens to the public at 10am, during the last 30 minutes, when the participants are on the self-guided exploration, enjoying a Scavenger Hunt, or shopping in the Gift Shop, there may be public guests arriving to visit the NBSTCC.
