FBMH Social Responsibility Conference 2026
About this Event
Join us for the second annual FBMH Social Responsibility Conference, bringing together staff, postgraduate researchers and community partners to share ideas, celebrate impact and explore how we can put social responsibility into action. Through inspiring talks, practical workshops and opportunities to connect, the conference will spark new conversations, collaborations and ideas for positive change across our Faculty and beyond.
Venue: Core Technology Facility, Grafton Street, Manchester, M13 9WU
Time: 10 am to 3pm (registration and refreshments from 10am, event start 10.30am)
We appreciate that not all guests will be able to attend in person, this event will be recorded and will be uploaded to the FBMH You Tube channel.
Keynote Speaker:
The day will begin with a keynote from Deborah Cohen, an award-winning medically qualified broadcaster, journalist and author. Drawing on her extensive experience in health journalism and broadcasting, Deborah will share her insights before taking part in a live audience Q&A, giving attendees the opportunity to continue the conversation.
Workshops
A selection of practical workshops will be available following the keynote, giving attendees the opportunity to explore key areas of the social responsibility agenda. Topics will include co-production, research impact, communication and wellbeing, further details on the workshop selection will follow.
Whether you are new to social responsibility or already actively involved, there will be something relevant for you.
Connect Over Lunch and Networking
Lunch will provide an opportunity to continue conversations from the morning, make new connections and explore potential collaborations with colleagues, postgraduate researchers and community partners. During the breaks you can explore our poster board session and find out more about social responsibility activity and the people that make it happen.
Pecha Kucha Presentations
In the afternoon, enjoy a series of short, engaging Pecha Kucha-style presentations showcasing exciting projects and experiences from across the Faculty.
Places are limited and the conference is open to all staff, PGR students and community partners, so please book early to avoid disappointment.

Accessing the venue
The event will take place at the Core Technology Facility, located on the corner of Grafton Street and Upper Brook Street. The event will take place on the ground floor in the Dalton room, just behind the reception.

The venue is easily accessible by public transport. There is no parking available to members of the public at the venue, but there is a variety of car parks near to it.
The largest is the Grafton Street Multi Storey Car Park, which is opposite the venue. Click here for the map. There are also cycle racks just outside the entrance to the venue, these are on a first come first serve basis.
