The Graphene Engineering Innovation Centre (GEIC) is where graphene and 2D materials stops being a research paper and starts being a product. For two days this September, we're opening our application labs to industry.
This isn't a lecture theatre and a slide deck. You'll walk the floor, see the equipment that takes a material from formulation to prototype, and sit down with the specialists who do the work - to talk about your materials challenge, not ours.
Whether you already know graphene and 2D materials belongs in your product, or you're simply curious what they could do, Open Labs is your chance to find out with no cost and no commitment.
What you'll do on the day
Tour the application labs: coatings, composites, membranes, printed electronics, deposition and more, in the facilities where the work actually happens

· Talk to materials specialists: one-to-one about the problem you're trying to solve

· Explore how we work with companies: from short scoping projects to failure analysis, prototyping and production readiness

· See the routes in: rental lab space, membership, and collaborative development

· Meet other manufacturers and innovators:working on similar challenges
Who should attend
Open Labs is built for people inside companies who own a materials problem or a product roadmap. You'll get the most from it if you're in:
R&D, materials, and product development: engineers, chemists, scientists and technical leads

· Innovation, technology scouting and NPD

· Technical directors, CTOs and founders of SMEs and scale-ups

If your sector isn't listed, come anyway – graphene and 2D materials turns up in places we didn't expect either. Just tell us what you're working on when you register.
Who it isn't for
Open Labs is an industry event, so places are reserved for people attending on behalf of a company or organisation. It isn't a public open day, a student careers event, or a recruitment or sales opportunity.
If you're a student, or an individual interested in graphene, we'd genuinely like to hear from you - email us at [email protected] and we'll point you to the right event or programme. There are usually better options for you than this one.
What to expect
Expect real conversations and honest answers - including when graphene and 2D materials isn't the right answer for your application. Wear flat, closed-toe shoes; PPE is provided where it's needed.
The two dates
The two days run identical programmes. Pick whichever suits your diary:
· Day 1 - Friday 18 September 2026

· Day 2 - Friday 25 September 2026
Choose your day when you register. One place per person, and you're welcome to bring colleagues - just register each person so we can plan the tour groups properly.
How to register
1. Select Day 1 or Day 2 above and choose the number of places.
2. Complete the short registration form - we ask for your company, role and what you'd like to get out of the day.
3. Once you register, a member of our team will be in touch shortly to confirm your place.
That last step is deliberate. We keep group sizes small so the conversations are useful, and we like to know a little about what you're working on so we can put the right specialist in the room with you.
