About this Event

Family Sandscapes: Intergenerational Trauma Healing in Play and Thearpy is a trauma-informed training that explores how family systems, inherited narratives, and unspoken patterns emerge symbolically in sand tray therapy. This training focuses on using individual, dyadic, and family sand tray to externalize intergenerational trauma, reveal legacy burdens, and support repair, resilience, and connection across generations. Participants will learn experiential, culturally responsive interventions that honor family stories while fostering regulation, meaning-making, and healing for children, adolescents, adults, and families.


Learning Objectives
  1. Describe how intergenerational trauma is transmitted through family systems, attachment patterns, and implicit narratives.
  2. Identify symbolic indicators of intergenerational trauma, legacy burdens, and resilience as they appear in sand tray play work.
  3. Apply trauma-informed sand tray play interventions to support family-based healing and relational repair.
  4. Demonstrate culturally responsive and ethically grounded practices when exploring ancestral and family narratives in play and therapy.
  5. Utilize sand tray play and experiential interventions to support family-based healing and meaning-making.
  6. Integrate ethical, cultural, and systems-informed considerations when working with family and ancestral narratives in play and therapy.
