Golden Hour in Play and Therapy
About this Event
Join us either in-person or virtually to explore the "Golden Hour" on August 8, 2026 @ 11am.
The "golden hour" is often described as the period immediately following a meaningful experience when connection, reflection, and integration are most likely to occur. In play therapy, these moments can emerge after emotional breakthroughs, symbolic play sequences, corrective attachment experiences, moments of regulation, or significant shifts in a child's narrative. This training explores how play therapists can recognize, support, and ethically utilize these therapeutic windows to deepen healing and strengthen therapeutic change.
Drawing from attachment theory, interpersonal neurobiology, play therapy theory, and trauma-informed practice, participants will learn how to identify "golden hour" moments within the playroom and utilize developmentally appropriate interventions to support emotional integration, resilience, and meaning-making.
Learning Objectives:
- Identify at least three indicators that a child has entered a therapeutic "golden hour" following emotional, relational, or symbolic breakthroughs in play therapy.
- Explain how attachment, neurobiology, and emotional regulation influence the integration of therapeutic experiences during play therapy sessions.
- Demonstrate at least three play therapy interventions that support reflection, consolidation, and meaning-making following significant therapeutic moments.
- Apply developmentally appropriate play therapy techniques that strengthen therapeutic gains during periods of heightened openness, connection, and emotional processing.
