Exploratory Urban Farm Tour

Garfield Community Farm is a 2-acre multi use green space in the Garfield neighborhood in the City of Pittsburgh. This green space is loosely divided into growing spaces, community spaces, and wild spaces. A permaculture-based and community-centered farm, it contains plenty of unique features. Some of these include a bioshelter, a food forest, a peace labyrinth, farm animals, sensory spaces, a nature-based “playground,” a community herb patch, and community resources like a seed sharing library. It is a wonderfully engaging space for all ages to explore!

During this event, a GCF farmer will lead participants on a tour around the entire site, pointing out various features, sharing education, and inviting participants to engage through their senses. Depending on the interest level of the participants, tours can take anywhere from 30 minutes to an hour. Afterwards, participants will simply be invited to explore on their own. In addition to the tour, participants will also have the opportunity to collect some herbs to bring home to make their own water infusions.

There will be light refreshments offered. There is a port-a-potty and hand-washing station on site.
