Come meet the Blackish in Spokane team, learn more about what we’re building, and find a place where your time, skills, and lived experience can make a real difference.
Blackish in Spokane is growing, and we need people who care about Black and biracial youth, families, emotional wellness, representation, and building stronger community connections.
Most positions are currently volunteer positions. As funding becomes available, some roles may transition into paid positions. Volunteering does not guarantee future employment, but we absolutely want to build our team from people who already believe in the work and have shown up for the mission.
Positions Available
Mentors
Build positive relationships with youth, encourage confidence, provide guidance, and be a consistent supportive adult presence.
Program Facilitators
Help lead Crowned in Confidence, Gentlemen’s Circle, Family Matters, workshops, and other Blackish in Spokane programs. Facilitators help guide conversations, activities, and group discussions.
Event Support Volunteers
Help with setup, cleanup, registration, greeting guests, food, supplies, activities, and keeping community events organized.
Community Outreach Volunteers
Help us connect with families, schools, businesses, organizations, and community members. This may include attending events, distributing information, recruiting participants, and representing Blackish in Spokane in the community.
Administrative Support
Help behind the scenes with emails, scheduling, forms, spreadsheets, participant registration, organizing documents, phone calls, and general nonprofit operations.
Fundraising & Sponsorship Support
Help identify potential sponsors, contact businesses, organize donation campaigns, assist with fundraising events, and help us build relationships with community partners.
Social Media & Content Support
Help create posts, take photos or videos, promote programs and events, share community resources, and help tell the story of Blackish in Spokane.
Podcast & Media Support
Assist with guest coordination, production days, setup, research, promotion, photography, video, editing, or other needs connected to the Blackish in Spokane podcast.
Youth-facing roles may require a background check. If working directly with children isn’t the right fit for you, there are still plenty of ways to contribute your talents behind the scenes.
Black and biracial men and women are strongly encouraged to come meet us. People of every background are welcome, including parents of Black or biracial children who want to share their experience and support other families.
You don’t have to know exactly where you fit yet.
