How does Europe improve everyday life - and how can journalism tell that story better?
Join us on 15 September 2026 at the Berlin newsroom of dpa – Deutsche Presse-Agentur, the German Press Agency, for the closing press event of EUconomy – Partnerships4Prosperity.
This event is aimed at journalists, Interreg project coordinators, stakeholders in European regional cooperation and communication professionals who want to better understand - and communicate - what EU cohesion policy does on the ground.
EU-funded cross-border projects support jobs, training, sustainability, innovation and cooperation in Germany’s border regions. But their impact often remains difficult to see and explain. Together, we will look at how these projects work in practice, who benefits from them and how their stories can reach wider regional audiences.
Taking place in the newsroom of Germany’s leading news agency, the event offers a unique setting for exchange, practical insights, new story angles and networking.
The closing press event of EUconomy – Partnerships4Prosperity brings this question into the newsroom:
How can EU cohesion policy be communicated in a way that is concrete, accurate and relevant to people’s everyday lives?
What to expect
- Best practice showcase: EU-funded cross-border projects from Germany’s border regions will be presented by the people directly involved.
- Panel discussion: Cohesion Policy: How do we tell people what Europe does for them? Journalists, communication experts, Interreg representatives and project coordinators will discuss how its local impact can be explained clearly.
- Networking inside the dpa newsroom: The evening will close with informal networking in the dpa newsroom.
The project in brief
EUconomy – Partnerships4Prosperity is a 12-month media initiative by dpa-Custom Content, co-funded by the European Union. The project produces free multimedia content packages - including video and images - documenting EU-funded cross-border projects in Germany’s border regions with Austria, Poland, the Czech Republic, France and Denmark. All content is made available free of charge to media outlets across Germany and beyond.
