Storytelling for pitching your music
About this Event
WORKSHOP OVERVIEW
For music to truly connect with an audience, it needs more than great production. it needs a story people can connect to. Hi! I'm Catherine Pérez Vega, designer and co-producer of 310sessions and in this workshop I'll guide you through a techniques borrowed from my design practice to help you pitch your music with intention.
Through 310sessions we learn how artists present themselves and their music. And sometimes, that presentation is not enough to show us that you are a great performer and that your music needs to be hear. For us, a great pitch can open doors, particularly for bookings, networks, and communities. A well-curated pitch can communicate a clear concept of you and your music, it can potentially establish an emotional connection, which at the end of the day is what you need for your music to be memorable. I merge the expertise from 310sessions with my design practice and I'll share with you how to identify and shape a compelling story, and turn it into a concise pitch, one that helps varied audiences including venues, labels, press, and collaborators understand your story and connect with your music.
This workshop is a communication strategy session for newcomer artists designed to help you frame your work differently.

3. Adapt that story across formatsbooking emails,
We'll exercise with a 30-second pitch or an EPK (to decide as a group).
4. Practice and refine their pitch live, with group feedback.
5. Leave with a usable pitch draft ready for bookings and outreach.
WHAT PARTICIPANTS WILL LEARN FROM A DESIGNER'S PERSPECTIVE
· Framing first: pitch what the music does for the listener, not just what it is.
· Narrative arc: structure pitches with setup, tension and payoff.
· Audience-first communication: tailor the pitch to a booker, curator, or journalist.
· Hierarchy: know what to lead with and what to cut out.
· Elevator pitch discipline: say it in seconds without losing authenticity.
· Iteration: treat the pitch like a draft. Test it, get feedback, refine it.
MATERIALS PARTICIPANTS CAN BRING
· An existing bio, pitch, or electronic press kit (if you have one).
OUTCOME
I want every participant to leave the room with a working draft of their own pitch. No ai, a thinking room of creatives to craft something unique that connects with others.
