Ethiopian Breakfast Cooking Class with Chef Zufan

We are excited to announce the first class in the 2026 Nibble Spring Cooking Class Series, focusing on delicious breakfast staples from all around the world! Join Chef Zufan and the Nibble Team and learn how to make a delicious Ethiopian breakfast from scratch, including making the bread by hand and even roasting and grinding the coffee for a traditional Ethiopian coffee ceremony!

The Class:

Nibble cooking class are designed to be hands-on and interactive! Come ready to roll up your sleeves and jump right into the kitchen with Chef Zufan to learn step-by-step from the expert. When the meal is complete we will all sit down together and share the meal we have collectively created and learn more about Chef Zufan and Ethiopian cuisine and culture.

The Menu:

Chechebsa (also known as Kita Firfir) - A traditional breakfast of Ethiopian flatbread made from scratch by hand, baked to perfection, hand-torn and fried in beautifully spiced Ethiopian butter with berbere spice. Topped with fresh yogurt and special Ethiopian honey.

Ethiopian Coffee - Ethiopia is the birthplace of coffee and still produces some of the finest coffees in the world! In most Ethiopian homes families buy green coffee beans and roast them just moments before grinding and brewing for the absolute freshest cup imaginable! In this class you will learn not only how to roast and brew Ethiopian coffee in the classic jebena, but also how to host a traditional Ethiopian coffee ceremony!

*The menu is 100% vegetarian, though not vegan due to the butter used in frying the Chechebsa.

About the Chef:

Chef Zufan hails from the capital of Ethiopia, Addis Ababa, and has called Cambridge home for many years now. Chef Zufan joined the Nibble Program in 2026 because, despite working in restaurant and food service for many years, she has not had the opportunity to develop her own business, cook her own food, and share her own story and culinary culture with the Greater Boston Community. Chef Zufan's long-term goal is to open a restaurant or café specializing in Ethiopian cuisine. Outside of class, find Chef Zufan at the Union Square Farmers' Market or at her home in Cambridge hosting wonderful lunches where she loves to invite coworkers and friends to experience her wonderful food and unwavering hospitality!
