When One Student Changes, How Does the Whole School Benefit?
Independent schools invest significant time and resources in creating transformative experiences for students. Yet one important question often remains unanswered:
How does one student’s transformation become part of the culture of the entire school?
The Answer: This year’s Forum offers two full days of educator programming built around this question — for school leaders responsible for mission, curriculum, student leadership, and school culture.
Two Days of Educator Programming
Across October 8–9, school leaders will explore multiple, complementary ways to turn SStS experiences into lasting institutional culture. The programming is anchored by a new three-hour leadership intensive, and rounded out by additional sessions for educators.
Homecoming: Turning Student Transformation into School Culture
Led by internationally recognized leadership innovators Erika Twani and Dani Bedoni, Homecoming is a working session—not a presentation. Together they bring decades of experience in neuroscience, leadership development, educational innovation, emotional intelligence, organizational transformation, and executive coaching. Erika is the bestselling author of Becoming Einstein's Teacher and The Einstein Mindset; Dani is a Master Coach with more than thirty years of experience helping leaders and organizations build cultures where people thrive. Together, they co-authored The Mindset of Possibilities Workbook for Educational Leaders.
Using real SStS experiences as the starting point, participants will work collaboratively to design practical systems that help returning students influence faculty, younger students, families, and the broader school community.
Participants will explore how to:
• Align field studies with curriculum and school mission.
• Build structures that sustain ethical leadership beyond a single experience.
• Create practical systems that transform student inspiration into campus practice.
• Leave with an implementation plan tailored to their own school.
Who Should Attend?
We encourage you to consider who is best positioned to bring these ideas back to campus—Heads of School, Division Directors, Curriculum Leaders, Student Life leaders, and others responsible for shaping school culture.
Our Aim is Simple: every participating school leaves not only inspired by its students' experiences, but equipped with practical strategies for making those experiences catalysts for enduring institutional culture.
Additional Sessions within the two-day program
Rounding out October 8–9, school leaders can also:
• Align field studies with curriculum using the framework presented by the author of Becoming Einstein's Teacher.
• Explore how schools are embedding ethics into school culture through ethics centers and student leadership programming.
• Learn from schools that have customized SStS programs to reinforce mission, engage faculty, and deepen parent partnerships.
• Meet SStS NGO leaders whose work provides the foundation for transformative student experiences around the world.
• Participate in the Ethical Leadership Forum plenary and Jeffersonian Lunch, applying multiple perspectives to complex leadership challenges alongside educators, healthcare leaders, business leaders, and students.
