3 hour workshop OPEN LEVEL for Lead and Follow.
A focused workshop on fundamentals, musical footwork, and partnerwork, emphasizing authentic technique, rhythm, and connection in traditional bachata.

Hour 1 – Fundamentals & Foundation
Focus on posture, timing, weight transfer, and core traditional bachata basics. Emphasis on clean technique, grounding, and building a strong, authentic foundation for both leaders and followers.
Hour 2 – Footwork & Musicality
Explore traditional footwork patterns and variations while developing musical awareness. Learn how to identify rhythms, accents, and phrasing in bachata music and translate them into expressive, rhythm-driven movement.
Hour 3 – Partnerwork & Connection
Apply fundamentals and musicality to partnerwork. Focus on lead and follow clarity, connection, transitions, and maintaining traditional bachata flow while dancing with a partner.

Erick Ortiz is a traditional bachata instructor known for his deep respect for the roots and musicality of the dance. His teaching emphasizes authentic Dominican fundamentals, clean footwork, body control, and strong connection to the rhythm and instruments of bachata. Erick is especially recognized for breaking down movements in a clear, accessible way, helping students understand not just how to move, but why the movement fits the music.
With a focus on timing, partner connection, and cultural context, Erick encourages dancers to develop their own expression while staying true to traditional bachata principles.
