DescriptionThe next course in our successful Junior Leader program, designed for young people aged 13yrs+. We extend a warm welcome to both returning Junior Leaders from last year and to those who are new and interested in joining.
This is part of an ongoing year-long set of courses to include in-house training, mentored volunteering opportunities and official National Governing Body training courses and awards.
We start with skills development through fun "games with aims" leading to NGB personal proficiency awards. Then, throughout the year, official training and assessment courses will be delivered including:
Foundation Safety and Rescue Training (an essential NGB pre-request course)
Safeguarding Awareness
REC First Aid
Paddlesport Instructor Training and Assessment
EP Outdoor Instructor Health and Safety Training
Mentored, on-the-job, training and volunteering opportunities
and more.
Previous Junior Leaders have gained the above qualifications (and more), starting off by just enjoying fun skills and games courses, progressing through official NGB training and assessments, logging many volunteer hours (all useful for job and university applications) and going on to paid work with the club and other outdoor centres.
Feedback from previous Junior Leaders, parents, participants and the club members they have gone on to coach has been fantastic.
Our Junior Leader Training Programme is a unique and innovative course with a proven successful track record, the first of its kind in N.I, developed and staffed by nationally recognised (and award winning) coaches with coach educator and national trainer status with years of experience delivering at a national level.
The price covers the initial induction and skills for this four week course.
Over the year, NGB registrations, certifications, award and qualification fees will be billed separately and can be reimbursed after a set number of volunteer hours for the club.

Equipment
We will provide all the paddlesports equipment you need; kayaks, spraydecks, paddles, buoyancy aids and helmets.
The only thing we can’t supply is your personal paddling wear. Wear a wetsuit if you have one, or normal outdoor sports clothes; fleeces or tracksuit and top, shoes to get wet and a waterproof coat.
You must bring a full set of dry clothes, shoes and a towel.
Facilities
We meet at the Round O in Enniskillen. Parking is available and there are toilet facilities.
For these courses most people find it best to arrive ready to go paddling.
Afterwards, you can change at your car, or drive straight home. For changing at your car (as many paddlers do), a changing towel and mat to stand on make this a much easier and discreet process. Or some prefer to stay in their paddling kit and use a large bin liner to sit on in the car, and change at home. We do recommend that you shower soon after paddling.
General Information
All our courses are open to all. You do not need to be a member to book.
Tickets should be booked online. The closing date for booking is 12 noon the day before the course starts.
We operate a waitlist. If tickets are sold out please add your name to the waitlist. We will be in touch if additional spaces become available.
We aim to be as inclusive as possible. If you have any additional needs please contact us before booking to see how we can accommodate you.
Please Note
If you want to attend a course or activity with us, please register and book your place as soon as you can. If we know that there is sufficient interest in a course, we can confirm the work schedule with the qualified coaches for that course. There is a minimum number of attendees required for all our group courses and events. It really helps us if people book tickets as soon as possible. Thank you.

If this is the first time you are booking with us the non-member price for the full course includes annual membership of Erne Paddlers and Affiliated Paddle Northern Ireland Membership (our National Governing Body). Adult membership of both organisations is valued at a total of £65 and u18 membership at £27.

This means you need to book the course or activity for the person going either by logging in under their profile, or by adding them to your profile as a family member. If you book a course for your child under your name and profile you will be charged the adult rate.
