October is Health Literacy Month, and EmpowerMOM is back for another powerful afternoon of education, celebration, connection, and community.
EmpowerMOM was created by Dr. Phindile Erika Chowa, an Emergency Medicine physician and founder of EMCare2U, after seeing how many women move through pregnancy, birth, and postpartum feeling overwhelmed, underprepared, and unsupported.
Dr. Chowa envisioned a different kind of gathering — one where expecting mothers could be showered not only with gifts, but with knowledge, resources, expert guidance, and a stronger village.
EmpowerMOM brings mothers, families, birth workers, health professionals, sponsors, and community partners into one room to help bridge the gaps in maternal care. This event was designed to make sure mothers are not left to navigate pregnancy and postpartum alone.
This October, in honor of Health Literacy Month, we are focusing on what every mother deserves: clear information, trusted resources, culturally competent support, and the confidence to advocate for herself and her baby.
Whether you are trying to conceive, currently expecting, preparing for your first baby or your fourth, or navigating the postpartum season, EmpowerMOM was created with you in mind.
You are welcome to attend with your partner, family members, or support system. This event is for the whole village.
