About this Event
A beginner level workshop exploring Strudel, a free, web-based electronic music production and live coding tool.In this workshop, you will learn about sequencing, arrangements, and tools used to create chord progressions for house music using Strudel.Strudel is a live-coding web based application that interprets lines of code as musical notes.
Workshops are recommended for people ages 12 and over. Children under 12 years old are welcome with parent/guardian supervision. Please get a ticket for each person (incl. all children).
The workshop is admission by donation! Suggested $20 - $30 to support facilitator fees and supplies.

ABOUT THE FACILITATOR:
Sasha Young a.k.a. Nasty g is a hiphop artist born and raised in Calgary. He is a rapper, beat maker and a DJ. Sasha began practicing hip hop since he was a young child. After years of reciting his favourite songs to and from school, he found writing lyrics and raps helped overcome adversity. Through writing raps, Sasha found his love for beat making, producing and DJ’ing. Overtime, beat making and DJ’ing became the focus of Sasha’s hip hop essence.
Using the skills he learned from practicing hip hop, Sasha has now shifted focus on curating space for musical events and teaching others hip hop skills.

Alcove Centre for the Arts (alcoveartscentre.ca) is a non-profit organization based in Calgary, AB which aims to make art more accessible and promote a vibrant local arts industry. We curate and cultivate community art spaces for Calgarians to engage in art and creativity while building a platform for emerging local artists.
Alcove is a Recreational Art Space open to the public providing free art supplies and instruments to stimulate creativity. The space also acts as a gathering place for workshops, community events, and social meetups. Come visit and get creative!
