Join us for a hands-on workshop in eco dyeing, a fascinating technique that harnesses the natural pigments of plants to create beautiful, unique designs on fabric. Under the expert guidance of Gina Taylor, you'll explore the art of eco dyeing using locally harvested flowers and other plant materials.
About your instructor: Gina Taylor is highly regarded as a skilled weaver and beloved crafts instructor. She takes part in craft exhibits and competitions as well as organizing these events in Honolulu.
What You'll Learn
Introduction to Eco Dyeing: Understand the principles of eco dyeing and the variety of plants that can be used for natural pigment extraction.
Materials Provided: Gina will supply all necessary materials, including an array of plant matter and the cloth for your print.
Step-by-Step Process: Learn the method of arranging and rolling the plant materials with the fabric, preparing them for dyeing.
Steaming Technique: Discover the steaming process that imprints the natural dyes onto the fabric, resulting in stunning, one-of-a-kind patterns.
Workshop Details
Duration: The entire process will take a morning to complete, ensuring you have ample time to learn, create, and ask questions.
Take Home: By the end of the workshop, you'll have your own beautifully imprinted cloth, a unique piece of art created by nature and your hands.
This workshop is perfect for anyone interested in natural dyeing techniques, sustainable fashion, or simply looking for a creative and relaxing activity. No prior experience is necessary.
P rice: $30 class fee + $20 materials fee (Total $50)
Proceeds from this class go to the Lyon Arboretum Education Department.
