Día de Los Muertos Dance
Mangrove School of Sarasota
About this Event
This isn’t your typical school dance!
Join us for a special Día de los Muertos inspired evening featuring a professionally choreographed dance experience, a community potluck, music, food, costumes, and a beautiful tradition of remembering those we love.
For ages 11-16
A local professional dancer will lead students through four different choreographed dances throughout the evening.
Students will learn each dance together and then bring it to life on the dance floor! Between each dance, there will be a 10-minute break to grab food, get a drink, visit with friends, and recharge before the next dance starts!
In the spirit of community, we’ll share a potluck style buffet. Each student is asked to bring a dish to share.
In keeping with Día de los Muertos tradition, we will create a special ofrenda (altar) to honor loved ones who have passed. (this is optional)
If your child would like to participate, you can bring a photo, small memento, or meaningful item representing someone they would like to remember. Participation is completely optional.
Come dressed in your favorite Día de los Muertos or Halloween-inspired costume!
Adult chaperones will be present throughout the evening, and we are also looking for parent volunteers who would like to help make the night a success.
Come ready to dance, celebrate, remember, and experience something a little different.
