Dock Aquatic Invertebrate Survey
About this Event
Join us to help identify and monitor the aquatic invertebrates and life inhabiting the freshwater dock at Cody Dock !
We are looking for up to 6 people to help us monitor the invertebrates of the Dock and its very own reedbed!
A chance to get on some waders and go and do some aquatic invertebrate surveying, as well as survey some of the algae and plant species living there.
The presence or absence of certain freshwater invertebrates can tell a story of a water body’s health. As some invertebrates are more sensitive to pollutants than others we can use them as “indicator species”. Assessing the types of invertebrates found can help indicate the health of the water body they have been found in, and the ongoing management of our freshwater dock!
Please arrive promptly at 10:30am.
