Walking.im are excited to introduce another night walk to add to our already popular routes.
Put your trust in your guide to navigate you to the pinnacle of two Manx Summits, Slieau Dhoo and Slieau Freoaghane to ring its bell.
Sunday 23rd February has been chosen to provide 'dark skies', which if clear should give us brilliant stargazing. The summits will also give a different perspective with views around the Island and beyond!
Starting at 6.30pm from the car park at Sartfell Plantation (on the B10), we make our way on foot through the darkness the top of Slieau Freoaghane and then heading off through the moorland to the summit of Slieau Dhoo. Returning via a different route, a total distance of approx. 4.5 miles (7.2 km), with approx. 800ft (245 m) of ascent and descent and taking approx. 3 hrs, including stops.
The route will be over greenway tracks and open moorland, you will require sturdy walking boots or shoes, headtorch (any touch will suffice but not a mobile phone torch, but we have plenty you can borrow), warm clothing to suit the weather, a snack and hot chocolate (included) will be provided at a cool spot to watch the stars!
