Welcome to Dig It: A Fall Writing Workshop at the Wendy Olson Arboretum!

Join us on Saturday, September 21, 2024 from 10 AM to 12 PM in the beautiful setting of the Wendy Olson Arboretum. This in-person workshop is an opportunity to immerse yourself in nature while discovering the transformative power of writing.

The workshop is open to participants of all skill levels, from aspiring writers to those with more advanced writing experience. You're welcome to express yourself in any form that resonates with you—journaling, fiction, poetry, short story, memoir, or essay.

Come connect with fellow writers and explore the gorgeous surroundings of the arboretum for inspiration. Don't miss out on this unique chance to dig deep and cultivate your writing talent.

Here's what to expect:

• Welcome: We’ll begin with a welcome, introductions, and a mindful exercise to set the intention for our time together.
• Writing Guidance: To help inspire creativity and writing, we'll offer writing prompts and suggestions.
• Writing Session: We'll delve into a free-form writing session, letting our words flow spontaneously.
• Gather and Share: We'll gather to share our work or thoughts on the day, creating a supportive environment where everyone has the opportunity to speak if they choose.

After the workshop, you’re welcome to stay and further explore the wonders of the arboretum.

The Wendy Olson Arboretum, Inc. is a certified level one arboretum in a residential neighborhood near downtown Hillsborough, NC. With almost three acres total, the property has a robust mix of riparian, upland, shade, and sun areas. The garden features native and keystone trees, plants, and shrubs that support local wildlife, including birds, insects, and mammals.

Parking instructions will be provided after registration.

Please note: Public restrooms are not available. The arboretum's walking trails can be uneven and do not have handrails, so please use caution. We recommend wearing a comfortable pair of closed-toe shoes and bringing a water bottle.
